Chris Knight provides a definition for an e-newsletter at his site, and detailing how many companies have been utilizing it.
Many companies are now turning to using online newsletters instead of the conventional print newsletter in order to inform all staffs on the current happenings in the company. It is preferred due to its cost-effectiveness, time saving, interactivity, and at the same time saving the environment. Information available online can be edited on the spot as and when it changes. This is an added convenience especially in a big company with constant updates on its operations.
In comparison, some smaller companies still prefer to use the conventional print newsletter due to issues such as technological differences. Differences in software and hardware used by all computers in the company could cause distortion and difficulty for its audience. There are also other risks such as spamming and emails received might be ignored by its recipients thus the intended information will not reach its audience. This is in spite of the extra costs and labor incurred to publish as well as distribute the document.
In my opinion, there are advantages and disadvantages regarding the use of e-newsletter versus print newsletter. A company should opt for the best choice that will benefit its operation and achieve its profit target.
